LUCKNOW, July 17:
Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev today announced to give candidature against Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Rae Bareli in the Lok Sabha elections and claimed that all efforts would be made for her certain defeat.
“Rahul Gandhi’s dream to become the Prime Minister of the country would never be fulfilled as this time I will campaign in Rae Bareli to ensure defeat of Sonia Gandhi. Sonia Gandhi would witness the same fate as her mother-in-law Indira Gandhi faced during the 1977 elections,” he said.
Addressing a press conference here before holding a Yuva Bharat workers meeting, Ramdev said his main agenda in the Lok Sabha election would be to dislodge the Congress Government and defeat Sonia Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders. “My organisation has a strength to contest all the 543 LS seats in the country but we are now focussing in a few seats so that Congress meets the same fate like they did in 1977,” he added.
Reiterating his support to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, the Yoga guru, who heads the Bharat Swahbhiman and Patanjali Yoga Sanstha, said that support to BJP is issue based and as they are working for the masses, the party is getting support from all corners.
Appreciating Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav for opposing the Food Security Bill, Baba Ramdev said that the Bill would have a negative impact on the marginal farmers of the country.
Alleging that Congress was treating Muslims as a vote bank, he said that the community had been ditched by the party in the past and they will continue to do so even in future. “Muslims have never been benefitted by the Congress and they had used the community just as a vote bank,” he claimed.
Reacting sharply on the failure of the Bihar Government due to which 20 innocent childred died yesterday after consuming midday meal in Saran, the Baba questioned such incident shows the State Government’s insensitivity.
Speaking about the Uttarakhand calamity, he said the Vijay Bahuguna Government was siphoning off the funds sent by the Centre and other State Governments and organisations on the name of relief.
He announced that his organisation was ready to contruct the washed away roads to Kedarnath within two months time without taking any Government grants. (UNI)
