JAMMU, Mar 31: A noted trade union leader Ram Kumar Sharma who attained superannuation today has been asked by the members of Jammu & Kashmir Government Employees Joint Action Committee to continue as president of the body in the larger interests of the employees and to lead the movement.
During the two day session of the activists, representatives and leaders of JKEJAC-R held here on Saturday and Sunday, the members discussed various issues related to pending demands of the employees including removal of pay anomalies, enhancement of retirement age, increase in Medical Allowance, framing of policy for regularization, decision on qualifying service of 21 years, grant of 10% dislocation allowance, providing 12.5% special duty allowance in favour of Ladakh region employees, release of DA in favour of PSU workers etc.
The session during meeting called upon Ram Kumar Sharma to continue to work as State president of the JKEJAC and guide the employees’ movement in the wider interests of the State employees and workers. Mr Sharma consented to continue till the next arrangement is made.
The employees’ leaders during the session discussed the Khaniyari Committee report and unanimously adopted the same seeking All India Trade Union pattern, breach of agreement by State Government, issue of broader unity and united action and also accorded farewell to Ram Kumar Sharma who attained superannuation from Government service today. The employees’ leaders expressed resentment over the indifferent attitude of the State Government for not implementing the agreement in letter and spirit.
Prominent Trade unionists who attended the session included, Rafiq Ahmed Khaniyari, Balwan Singh Jamwal, Javed Ahmed Akhoon, Babu Hussain Malik, Parshotam Sharma, K A Diwani, Joginder Singh Manhas, Mohd Aslam, Madan Sangral, Abdul Rashid, Bharat Bhushan, Sewa Ram Rathore, Manjeet Singh, Rashpal Singh, Yash Pal Sharma, Muktiar Hussain, Kamla Sharma and others.
At the farewell function, in the afternoon senior Trade union leaders Nazir Ahmed Mir, Abdul Qayoom Wani, Khursheed Alam, Gafoor Dar, Ganesh Khajuria, Amrik Singh, Kulwant Singh, Jaswant Singh, Moulvi Mohd Nazir, Ashwani Pardhan were also present.
