Rajya Sabha adjourned in memory of Nelson Mandela

NEW DELHI: The Rajya Sabha today adjourned for the day as a mark of respect to former South African President and anti-apartheid movement hero Nelson Mandela.
Mandela died at the age of 95 at his home in Johannesburg yesterday after a prolonged lung infection.
“Nelson Mandela was one of the greatest personality of our time,” Chairman Hamid Ansari said, reading the obituary reference.
Mandela was awarded with the Bharat Ratna in 1990.
Dr Ansari said in passing away of Mandela, the people of South Afria have lost father of their nation and the world a statesman.
The House will now meet on Monday.
