SRINAGAR, June 22: Terming the death of Radha Vinod Raju an irreparable loss to the Jammu and Kashmir Police Parivar, the Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar today said he was instrumental in creating and further strengthening the institutions. He said Jammu and Kashmir is proud to have produced an officer of Raju’s stature who proved his mettle at the national level and was chosen to be the founder Director General of National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Chairing a condolence meeting of senior police officers held at Police Control Room (PCR) here this evening in memory of late Vigilance Commissioner and founder Director General of (NIA), the DGP said that late Raju was a friend, philosopher and guide for his colleagues and subordinates and he always provided valuable advices and suggestions to his superiors.
Rajendra said that professional mechanism with which late Raju cracked the high profile Rajiv Gandhi assignation case as the head of Special Investigation Team speaks about his professional diligence and competence. He said in his carrier from probationer to a commander, late Raju always had an impeccable track record of discipline, dedication and competence. Wherever the system needed him, late Raju delivered to the maximum, Rajendra observed while recalling his association with him since 1989.
Directors General of Police, Dr. S. P. Vaid and Naveen Agarwal also addressed the condolence meeting and paid glowing tributes to their former colleague. They recalled their association with him and threw light on the contributions he made to the positions he occupied from time to time.
Among others the condolence meeting was attended by the Inspectors General of Police, S. M. Sahai, Dr. B. Sriniwas, Muneer Ahmed Khan and A. Q. Manhas. Deputy Inspectors General of Police, Shafakat Ali Watali, P. Namgyal and Sheikh Abdul Hamid, Senior Superintendents of Police, Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, Sheikh Mehmood, Dr. Haseeb Mughal and other police officers.
