Rajouri Youth launch anti-drug campaign

RAJOURI, July 17: A youth group of Rajouri town today launched an anti-drug campaign in the area and appealed the youth to stay away from this addiction and not to play with their lives.
Asif Bhat, a social activist and Tazim Dar, youth PDP activist during a press conference here today expressed deep shock over the death of three youth of Rajouri town during this month due to over dose of the drugs. They said these incidents are eye opener for the people of Rajouri and the civil society here. They said that it is the collective responsibility of the parents and other members of each family to protect their boys from this destruction being caused due to menace of drug addiction.
They also appealed the District Police chief Rajouri to keep strict vigil and break the nexus so that previous lives could be saved. They also appealed to the parents to keep watch on their wards and try to convince them. They said that those indulging in this illegal trade should stop it immediately otherwise, the youth wing of Rajouri connected with the campaign shall resort to direct action and hand over the addicts and the accused rounded up by them to police for further legal action.
It is pertinent to mention here that on the intervening night of July 5 and 6 and then hardly three days back, three youth have reportedly died due to over dose of the drugs in Bela Colony area of Rajouri. Many people working for some local chemists and other outsiders are connected with this trade. The youth wing would expose and break this nexus and also work in coordination with the police. They will provide every possible information to the CID wing of District Police to nab such people.
