Rajouri Day celebrations conclude

JAMMU, Apr 13:    Rajouri Day is celebrated on April 13 every year to commemorate the bravery and valour of the gallant soldiers and brave-hearts of Rajouri district who laid down their lives for the liberation of Rajouri from rebels and Pakistan army personnel who had infiltrated from across the border.
White Knight Corps celebrated the historic spectacle with characteristic gaiety and fervour. The celebrations were kick started by GOC, Ace of Spades division on April 11, 2019 by felicitating the next of kin of the martyred soldiers as a part of the noble initiative to dedicate this year’s Rajouri Day as the ‘Year of Next of Kin’ to honor the supreme sacrifice made by their loved ones for Rajouri’s liberation.
On the concluding day of the celebrations today, events saw a patriotic fervour which commenced with paying homage to the martyrs and the brave citizens of Rajouri who had laid down their lives for liberation of Rajouri from Pakistani raiders in the year 1948 through a wreath laying ceremony at the Gujjar Mandi Chowk Memorial.
Lt Gen Paramjit Singh, General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps and Advisor to Governor, Kewal Kumar Sharma paid tributes to the Heroes of Rajouri and were joined by other esteemed civil and military dignitaries who were present to grace the occasion.
The chief guest flagged off the events for the day by releasing of balloons. This was followed by interaction and felicitation of next of kin of martyred soldiers, Veer Naris and Ex-servicemen by the chief guest. The day’s events also included display of bike daredevilry by the ‘Shwet Ashva’ team’ of the Army, Equestrian show and Dog show by local Army units as well as a magnificent display of heroics and adventure by the Para- Motors team.
This was followed by the cultural programme which consisted of a colourful display of ethnic kaleidoscope of the region by the local artists and children of various schools. Spectacular performances by budding young children were appreciated by the crowds with thundering applauds. Apart from these, splendid performances by the renowned and reputed Police and BSF Bands kept the audience captivated with the melodious harmony of various musical instruments.
Felicitation of the participants by the chief guest concluded the three-day long historical event.
