RAJOURI, June 11: To mark the historic liberation of Rajouri and paying homage to the bravery and sacrifices of those who valiantly defended the region during the 1948 conflict, Rajouri Day was celebrated here today.
In this regard, ESM Rallies were held by the Army to provide intimate contact and to provide on the spot solution to their problems.
During the Rally, an NGO, War Wounded Foundation (WWF) presented Modified Scooters to those ESM from Rajouri, who were physically disabled in the Line of duty.
The scooters were distributed by GOC, Rajouri Division, Maj Gen Gaurav Rishi to Disabled Soldiers, in the presence of ESM and Brig Harcharan Singh, Director North, WWF.
Around 20 Modified scooters have been distributed in J&K to the deserving ESM, who have sustained injuries, while serving in the Army.
A similar function was organised by the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Civil Administration and the people of Rajouri, organized a series of events to commemorate this significant day.
The celebrations featured a range of activities including an Indian Army equipment display, a martial arts exhibition, an equestrian show, hot air balloons, a military dog show, a Police Band display, and various cultural programs performed by school children from Rajouri.
The highlight of the occasion was the recognition and awarding of Mohd Farooq Muztar, founder patron of the Himalayan Education Mission Rajouri, for his exemplary services in the fields of education, literature, and social upliftment.
The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Maj Gen Gaurav Rishi, GOC Rajouri Division, Om Prakash Bhagat, District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Tajinder Singh, DIG Rajouri-Poonch (RP) Range and Brig Commander NV Nanjundeshwara.
