*FIR lodged against 18 JCB operators

RAJOURI, Feb 22: Intensifying its efforts to tighten noose around perpetrators of illegal mining in the district, the Geology and Mining Department has lodged FIR against 18 JCB operators found violating the mining norms.
In line with zero tolerance against the illegal mining, the special teams of the Geology and Mining Department, constituted on the directions of the District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, conducted several raids at different locations and booked the Operators.
District Mineral Officer, Mohammad Naseeb informed that teams, during the raids, found that eighteen JCB operators were violating the mining norms. After seeing the departmental staff, the operators of the JCBs ran away leaving the machines in the river. The teams have lodged FIR against the violators and the police are on the job to arrest the accused persons.
District Administration Rajouri is taking effective measures to ensure that only scientific mining is done in the minor mineral blocks and check illegal mining practices in the district.
The staff of the concerned department has been put on alert to keep close check in the vulnerable areas.
District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal reiterated that the drive launched against such practices will continue with more vigor and force till involved persons refrain from the illegal activities.
