UTTARKASHI (Uttarakhand): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will celebrate New Year with the Jawans of Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) in Nelong valley Border Out Post (BOP) on January 1.
The Minister, who is on two-day tour of Uttarakhand, will interact with the jawans at BOP to boost their morale and will also participate in ‘Sainik Sammelan’. This is first high-profile visit to this area.
On January 1, the Minister is also expected to visit a village Pulan Sunda situated near the China border. Mr Singh is scheduled to reach Matli battalion headquarters later in the day along with ITBP Director General RK Pachnanda and spend an evening with officials of the Force and their family, a senior official of ITBP here said.
The 12th battalion Headquarters of ITBP has organised a cultural programme to welcome Mr Singh. At Nelong BOP, the ITBP has deputed a company, consisting of 150 soldiers to guard the sensitive China Border and the average temperature here varies from minus 15 degree Celsius to 20 degree Celsius.
