CHENNAI: Giving life to rumours on his political ambitions, Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth said that ”today I am an actor and only God will decide my future”. Addressing his fans on the opening day today of a five-day meeting, organised after a gap of a decade, Rajinikanth said ”my life is in the hands of God.”
”Only god will decide my future. As of now, he is using me as an actor and I am acting. If he asks me to take up something (enter politics), I will do it with the same responsibility.” ”If a situation arises when I have to enter politics, I will not let down some people close to me.”
The actor termed it as a ‘political accident’, when he openly voiced his support for the DMK-TMC alliance in the 1996 Assembly elections when he had said that even God couldn’t save Tamil Nadu, if Jayalalithaa (AIADMK) was elected to power.
His statement had a cascading effect as AIADMK had lost that elections and the DMK-combine swept the polls and formed the government.
