Rajendra lauds dedication, sacrifices of JKP

JAMMU, Dec 28: Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajendra today said that Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) has been recognized at national level for its dedication and sacrifices in maintaining peace and order in the State.
The DGP said this while addressing the maiden police Durbar organised by Jammu District here at Police Auditorium.
Urging the jawans to serve and provide better police service to the public at all levels, the DGP said that the JKP has assumed nation wide acclaim. He said that the personnel of the organization have always taken responsibilities as a challenge and have proved themselves as pro people by ensuring safety of the human lives and public property.
Appreciating the role of jawans and officers, the DGP said that JKP has demonstrated great valour and courage while fighting the militancy in the State during past 27 years and saved lives and property of the public.
Highlighting the role of police, the DGP said that the primary role of police is to maintain peace and order in the society to ensure dignity and honour of common man.
He further said that police serves as a bride between public and the Government, adding that it needs to work with more consciousness and sincerity to keep the trust of the people they have pinned with them.
Deliberating on his memories during his service career, DGP disclosed that during the past 30 years scope of JKP has increased manifold and the force is now performing multiple duties at different fronts.
Police functioning has also improved and now they are capable to face any situation weather it is investigation, anti-militancy operations or law and order duties. Sharing his professional experiences with the participants, the DGP said that he started his career from Jammu and is proud to be the chief of a leading police in the country and relinquishing the charge from the same place.
Talking about the welfare measures, the DGP said that welfare of jawans remains always on top of his agenda and the department has taken various measures to ease various welfare schemes for the   benefit of the personnel adding various welfare schemes have been launched in this regard. He said during 2014, 2015 and 2016 more than Rs 60 core were paid under various welfare schemes to the families of serving personnel, retired, families of martyrs and SPOs.
Earlier, IGP Jammu Zone, Danish Rana, DIG Jammu Range, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, SSP Jammu, Sunil Gupta, SP Headquarters Jammu, Romesh Kotwal and other police officers described the DGP as a visionary Police Chief, who with his leadership qualities headed the JKP for more than 34 years and contributed in making the Force unique in nature and performance.
They disclosed that under his guidance JKP stepped forward on modern lines introducing new technologies of policing. He was instrumental in taking innovative welfare measures and disposing matters on priority to benefit the personnel.
