Rajbagh police rescues 21 bovines, seizes truck

KATHUA, Dec 3: In furtherance to tightening noose on bovine smuggling menace, a manhunt was launched by Kathua Police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua R C Kotwal – against bovine smuggling, rescuing 21 animals, seized one vehicle (Truck) and arrested the bovine smuggler at NHW opposite Police Station (PS) Rajbagh today.
Police said a team led by Inspector, Amit Sangra, SHO PS Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO, Border, Pankaj Soodan during routine Naka checking at National Highway opposite PS Rajbagh in its jurisdictional area noticed one suspicious vehicle (Truck) bearing Registration Number, JK02BM-5525 which was being driven by Zakir Hussain, son of Abdul Majeed of Kotli, Main Fedha, RS Pura district Jammu. The truck was enrouted from Kathua side towards Kashmir Valley. During the checking of vehicle, the police team rescued 21 bovines ( 20 Cows and one Ox) from the vehicle. An instant case vide FIR Number, 236/2022 U/S 188/IPC 11 PC Act has been registered at PS Rajbagh and further investigation is going on. Thus overall 21 bovines were rescued, one person was arrested and the vehicle involved in bovine smuggling was seized.
