JAMMU, Sept 25: Vice Chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Dr. Raj Nehru has been awarded the Maharishi Guru Vashishtha Award by the Abhyeti Foundation for his immense contribution in the field of education, skill development and employability.
The award was presented by the Foundation Director, Seema Bhatnagar, advisor Rajat Saxena and JEC Group Director, Lalit Saraog in an event at Jaipur, Rajasthan.
It is important to mention that Dr Nehru has pioneered the Work Integrated Model of Education that has significantly improved the employability and livelihood of students. The innovative approach to integrate industry and academia has gathered a significant popularity in the country. The Skill University has pioneered various initiatives that have been now well recognised across the country.
Speaking during the occasion, Dr. Nehru expressed his gratitude for this award and spoke about essential life skills students need for a successful career. Dr Nehru emphasised on new emerging technologies that are crucial for the nation’s economic growth and asked students to learn programming, coding, data engineering, data visualization. He also emphasised that Digital marketing besides Artificial Intelligence and IOT are going to disrupt the future and every student must make themselves familiar with these technologies.
He also emphasised the skill of self awareness and empathy besides problem solving and decision making are key in the fast growing world.
Dr Nehru mentioned that Shri Vishwakarma Skill University has successfully integrated these skills in its curriculum and through Earn and Learn Model students are getting real world experience by working on the shop floor and new technologies at the employer’s place.
Many students had a live interaction with him and asked various questions to clear their doubts.
