Raj Nehru appointed chairman UGC expert committee

JAMMU, Feb 3: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has appointed Raj Nehru, Vice-Chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, as the Chairman of the Expert Committee.
As per a statement, the committee will make guidelines for internship and research internship for the students of undergraduate classes across the country.
“The seven-member committee headed by VC Raj Nehru will prepare its report in two months and submit it to the UGC accordingly,” it reads.
Nehru had earlier been given important responsibilities in several all-India level committees.
In a statement, the Vice-Chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University said, “there are strong expectations that the National Education Policy will focus on the quality of higher education through teaching and research. It is very important in the present era to combine innovation and research with academic activities.”
He said that in the National Educational Policy, many major initiatives have been taken to promote research through internships for UG honour degrees.
“Research internships can connect the students directly with the industry,” he added.
