JAMMU, Feb 14: Maximum temperature across the State dipped considerably as Jammu and Kashmir experienced rains and fresh snowfall, since last evening.
However, notwithstanding the bad weather, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained open with plying of normal traffic on the road.
Besides Pahalgam and Kokernag in Kashmir Valley, fresh snowfall was experienced in Banihal, Batote, Bhaderwah and Trikuta Hills in Katra.
As the snowfall in all these places, excluding Pahalgam, was coupled with showers, there was no accumulation of snow on ground with the result that Jammu-Srinagar National Highway as well as other road links in upper reaches of Jammu remained clear for vehicular movement.
Further, there are no reports of any damage to property or life due to rains and snowfall in any part of the State.
The maximum temperature in Jammu dipped around six degree Celsius even as the minimum temperature registered an increase of more than 3 degree Celsius. More than 14.7 mm rainfall was registered in Jammu since last night till 8.30 am today while the weather remained cloudy during the day with light showers at a few places.
According to the Metrology Department, the maximum temperature of Jammu today was 15.6 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature was 9 degree Celsius.
Similarly the maximum temperature in Srinagar today was 9.3 degree Celsius and minimum -0.2 degree Celsius.
Katra, Batote, Bhaderwah and Banihal experienced rains and snowfall since last evening. Bhaderwah registered more than 20 mm rainfall with snow. Rainfall registered in Katra was 14.2 mm, Batote 13.6 mm and Banihal 6 mm.
For tomorrow, the Metrology Department has predicted light rains and snow at some places in Jammu and isolated places in Kashmir Valley.
