Rains lash Kashmir, MeT forecasts more

SRINAGAR, Mar 28: Rains today lashed Kashmir even as Weatherman forecast more till end of this month and the night temperatures increased across the Valley.
Rains lashed Kashmir today leading to drop in the day temperatures across the region while night temperatures improved.
Srinagar recorded a minimum of 9.8°C against 9.5°C the previous night and it was above normal by 3.7°C for the city for this time of the year.
Qazigund recorded a minimum of 9.8°C against 8.0°C the previous night and it was 5.1°C above normal for the town.
Pahalgam recorded a low of 5.0°C against 4.7°C the previous night and it was 3.4°C above normal for the resort.
Kokernag recorded a minimum of 9.1°C against 7.7°C the previous night and it was 4.4°C above normal.
Kupwara town recorded a low of 9.5°C against 7.7°C the previous night and it was 5.0°C above normal there.
Gulmarg recorded a low of 2.0°C against 3.0°C the previous night and it was above normal by 2.8°C for the skiing resort.
Srinagar recorded a maximum of 18. 6-degree Celsius temperature today which was 5.6 degree Celsius down from yesterday and 1.0 degree Celsius above normal for the city for this time of the year.
Qazigund recorded a maximum of 17.2 degree Celsius today which was 6.1 degree Celsius down from yesterday and was 0.2 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year.
Pahalgam recorded a maximum of 15.8 degree Celsius today which was 3.6 degree Celsius down from yesterday and was 1.4 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year.
Kupwara recorded a maximum of 18.7 degree Celsius today which was 4.4 degree Celsius down from yesterday and was 1.0 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year.
Kokernag recorded a maximum of 16.8 degree Celsius today which was 4.3 degree Celsius down from yesterday and was 1.0 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year.
Gulmarg recorded a maximum of 8.2 degree Celsius today which was 5.0 degree Celsius down from yesterday and was 1.3 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year.
A Meteorological Department official forecast wet weather for the weekend. He said that generally cloudy weather is expected with light rain (in plains)/snow (higher reaches) at many places during the next 24 hours.
The MeT official said, generally cloudy weather with light rain/snow (upper reaches) is expected at most places during March 29 evening to March 30th night.
On March 31, he said, partly to generally cloudy weather with intermittent light rain/snow is expected at a few places. “Generally dry weather has been forecast thereafter”.
