Rahul to visit Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Aug 6: All India Congress Committee (AICC) vice president and Member Parliament, Rahul Gandhi is visiting on two-day visit to Kashmir from August 9.
A party spokesman said that Rahul Gandhi is coming to attend the marriage function of the son of Jammu and Kashmir Congress Committee president, Ghulam Ahmed Mir at Srinagar on August 9. After attending this social function, Gandhi will pay visit to the shrine of Kheer Bhawani on August 10. On the same day, he will inaugurate the new office of the Congress Party at Srinagar and then he will leave for the Union Capital in the afternoon. He may interact with media at party office.
The spokesman further said that Rahul Gandhi had also expressed his desire to visit Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine in Katra during his J&K visit, but since the Parliament session is in progress, he has now curtailed his visit. He may visit Jammu and Katra Mata Vaishnodevi after the Monsoon session is over, he added.
Meanwhile, JKPCC president GA Mir and senior Congress leader (CWC Member) Tariq Hameed Karra today discussed the forthcoming visit of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
Both, Mir & Karra also discussed schedule prepared for Gandhi’s short visit and the arrangements made for it. One of the main  programmes would be formal inauguration of the newly reconstructed Congress Bhawan at Maulana Azad Road, Srinagar, where Gandhi would later interact with the selective party cadre.
The leaders agreed upon that the senior leadership of Congress Party from Jammu Division should also be invited on this occasion and agreed to formally invite Gandhi to visit Jammu Division as well.
