CHENANI, Jan 28: Pooh-poohing Rahul Gandhi’s announcement of ensuring minimum income guarantee for every poor in the country if Congress returns to power at Centre, Union Minister of the State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh today said that the statement was only re-coining of Indira Gandhi’s failed slogan of ‘Garibi Hatao’.
“Rahul Gandhi’s announcement , which is mere re-coining of Late Indira Gandhi’s ‘Garibi Hatao’ slogan in 1970s for luring voters ahead of Lok Sabha polls, will also meet the same fate because of no sincerity of Congress party towards poor masses of the country ,” he said while talking to media persons on the sidelines of a BJP function at Chenani today.
Claiming that pro-poor policies of Modi Government have compelled Rahul Gandhi to also talk of farmers and poor in the country, who otherwise remained neglected by the successive Nehru-Gandhi family regimes, Dr Jitendra Singh pointed out that Congress party ruled the country for 60 years but did nothing to remove poverty except giving slogans for political gains.
“It also shows hollowness of the Congress party, which has had been befooling the innocent masses so far but people of the country are now matured enough and will be no more swayed by such slogans as they have gone through bitter experience of these parties ,” he said and predicted that such political statements of Rahul Gandhi would only backfire.
Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a full timer and BJP as 24 x 7 party, ever ready for elections, Dr Jitendra Singh said that India can’t afford a part time PM from Congress, who goes on vacations and sometimes missing for months together.
“ For the first time India has a full time PM who works 24 hours in all 365 days without a single break whereas on the other hand, Congress is giving an alternative, who goes missing for months together without informing even his own party senior leaders,” he said.
Also hitting back at National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah for his ODOMOS (Overdose of Only Modi Only Shah) remark targeting BJP president Amit Shah for his OROP jibe, Dr Jitendra Singh said that NC and Congress have much in common. “While Congress gave Only Rahul Only Priyanka ( OROP) in response to BJP’s One Rank One Pension (OROP), NC gave only Omar only Farooq,” he jeered.
Earlier, while addressing BJP Navrattan Sammelan at Panchayat Ghar Chenani, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the people have started to recognize the true face of Congress and its allies and have established that they would vote for Modi led nationalist Government to contribute in nation building.
Counting on various landmark decisions taken in interest of Jammu & Kashmir, he said that the Modi Government has given life to the projects lying dead for decades in the State. He insisted that the previous Congress regimes stalled the progress of projects granted by Vajpayee led Central Government and Modi Government has again taken them on priority while initiating many new. “It is for the record that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will initiate or lay foundation stone for the projects to the tune of Rs 35,000 crore in Jammu region on the 3rd of February. And this is just the beginning of new era,” he said and asked the party workers to take achievements of BJP at Centre and State levels to the masses.
The Sammelan was also addressed by BJP State general secretary (Org ) Ashok Kaul, Constituency Prabhari and former MoS Priya Sethi, Constituency Seh-Prabhari and State Additional Secretary Arun Chibber, former MLA Dina Nath Bhagat and State Secretary Puran Chand (Sarpanch).
