JAMMU, Aug 1: Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today said with the ongoing augmentation of infrastructure the quality electric supply in State is going to become a reality soon.
The Speaker was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of drainage system in Chatha area.
“The replacement of old transmission and distribution cables with new temper proof cables and installation of state-of- art transformers as well as augmentation of existing and construction of new receiving stations is bound to improve the power supply scenario in the State”, the Speaker said.
He said the work under the flagship R-APDRP scheme is going on at war footing across the State which will not only improve the quality of power supply, but also cut down the T&D losses which has been eating up the State resources over the years.
Highlighting the development activities taken up in Gandhi Nagar constituency, he said that the construction of Chatha to Khaindwal road would be started shortly, while the improvement of drainage and lane construction work would be taken up in all localities.
“It is the right of every citizen to have all basic amenities including power supply, water supply and road connectivity and the Government has been working relentlessly to raise the living standard of the people”, he asserted.
He urged the people to actively participate in developmental activities of the State. He also called upon the people to keep their surroundings clean and green.
The Speaker appealed the masses to take maximum benefit of various State and Centrally Sponsored Welfare Schemes including Ladli Beti, AASRA, PM Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwal Yojana, PM Suraksha Beema Yojana and others.
Later, the Speaker visited the residence of Ravi Sharma, the young man who succumbed to his injuries which he received while rescuing two young girls from a flooded street in Janipur last week. The Speaker expressed his heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
