Quake jolts Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Jan 1: The residents of Kashmir valley experienced an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale on the first day of 2022, officials confirmed this evening.
The National Center for Seismology (NCS), nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring earthquake activity in the country, said that the tremor jolted this summer capital at 1845 hrs, having its epicenter at Fayzabad in Afghanistan.
A senior official said so far that they have not received any report of damage from anywhere in Kashmir.
Earlier this week on December 27, a low intensity earthquake had shaken Kashmir. (UNI)
