SRINAGAR, Jan 3: Ahead of Swachh Survekshan-2017, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) today said it has put cleanliness drives, sanitation and solid waste management on utmost priority and announced that Quality Council of India (QCI) team will visit here next week for a survey.
Addressing a press conference here, Chief Sanitation Officer, SMC, Manzoor Parray, informed that the survey ‘Swachh Sarvekshan 2017’ will start on January 11 and last up to January 13 and soon the QCI team will visit Srinagar City in this connection.
He said Swachh Survekshan-2017 will evaluate 500 cities across India on different cleanliness parameters in January. Parray further said that cities will be ranked based on the reports by urban local bodies on the progress made towards construction of toilets, feedback of citizens and independent observation of sanitation levels.
Parray said that SMC has involved NGOs and public representatives about cleanliness drives and mass awareness campaigns to ensure citizen participation and create awareness amongst all sections of society towards making Srinagar city a better place to live in.
