Srinagar, Oct 23: The Government had suspended president of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) president, Abdul Qayoom Wani, from his services and started enquiry against him.
An order (408 Edu of 2016 dated 22-10-2016) issued by the Commissioner/ Secretary Education here reads: “Pending enquiry, Abdul Qayoom Wani, I/C Headmaster, HS Ogmuna district Baramulla is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect. During the period of suspension, he shall remain attached with administrative department.”
Wani is also Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum. Government, earlier, ordered dismissal of at least 12 employees for their role in unrest in Kashmir.
The EJAC was scheduled to hold a meeting over the termination of Government employees. However, the EJAC members, including Wani, were arrested and lodged at Police Station Kothibagh.
As the Government begins to act tough against Government employees, various employees associations including all the three factions of EJAC today formed a Joint Consultative Committee, to oppose Government move.
A meeting of leaders of various employee associations took place in Srinagar. The meeting was attended by the leaders of all three factions of EJAC.
The meeting held threadbare discussion over prevailing situation in Kashmir, termination of employees and suspension of EJAC president Abdul Qayoom Wani. The leaders unanimously decided to form and come under the umbrella Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), an amalgam of various employees associations.
The meeting decided to extent all possible support to those employees whose services have been terminated or suspended.
Meanwhile, six leaders of Employees Joint Action Committee including the president of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), who were detained here on Saturday after police foiled their meeting, were shifted to Kupwara and Baramulla sub-jails.
