JAMMU, Dec 29: Demanding implementation of 73rd Amendment for empowerment of Panchayats, the Pradesh Youth Congress is going to resume its struggle for the same from tomorrow.
This was informed by the PYC president Shahnawaz Choudhary while talking to media persons at PCC headquarters, here today.
Tomorrow, the Youth Congress activists will hold protest demonstrations at district level across Jammu province following which similar protests will be organized across the State for empowerment of Panchayats, he said.
Mr Shahnawaz, who was accompanied by PYC general secretary Manjeet Singh Jatt, Abid Kashmiri, Rajveer Singh Manhas and Charanjeet Singh Cheeku, reminded that Youth Congress has already been fighting for the empowerment of Panchayats and it was due to the assurance of Government as well as Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that the protests were suspended for some time.
“Now it is clear that the State Government is not in a mood to give powers to the Panchs and Sarpanchs and buying time was only a delaying tactics of the National Conference. So the Youth Congress has no option other than to resume its protests,” he added.
The PYC president announced that the fresh round of protests will not be suspended till the Panchayats are empowered by J&K. “It is our warning to the State Government that if the powers are not given to the Panchayats, the Youth Congress will continue protests,” he said.
Other PYC leaders also addressed the press conference and sought support of elected Panchs and Sarpanchs in their struggle for empowerment of the Panchayats.
