JAMMU, May 18: The activists of Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) today held a strong protest demonstration against the killings of civilians on the LoC and disrespect shown to the soldiers in the State.
A large number of PYC activists, under the supervision of PYC secretary, incharge J&K, Sheshpal Singh Keharwalla and under the leadership of PYC president, Pranav Shagotra assembled near Press Club in the morning and held massive protest against unabated killings of civilians on the borders. Amid shouting anti-BJP slogans, PYC activists burnt the effigy of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for his failure to protect lives of civilians on the Line of Control and not giving free hands to the Army to give a befitting reply to Pakistan. They tried to move towards Tawi bridge and stall movement of vehicles but police foiled their attempt.
Expressing grave concern over unabated killings, Shagotra said that BJP led NDA Government has miserably failed to deal with the situation on the LoC. He regretted that instead of adopting aggressive posture to counter misdeeds of Pakistan, Centre Government is befooling the people by mere rhetoric and speeches.
PYC president further said that after demonetization BJP leaders in Union Government had claimed that this step would break backbone of terrorism but the recent incidents negated all claims of the BJP Government.
Reminding BJP leaders of their speeches before 2014 Lok Sabha elections, PYC president recalled that Saffron Party leaders were used to taunt the then Government over one incident of mutilation of body of a soldier, but now its leaders have gone silent after Mendhar LoC incident.
Speaking the occasion, Sheshpal Singh said that BJP’s fake nationalism has been exposed and for lust of power BJP leaders can go to any extent and it is established in J&K where party leaders are shamelessly allowing killing of civilians and humiliation of soldiers just to remain in power. He said terror attacks, ceasefire violations have increased in the Modi regime compared to the UPA’s tenure and added that number of incidents of mutilation of Indian soldiers has increased since Modi regime took over.
