JAMMU, Oct 12: Pradesh Youth Congress today launched its mass movement against the PDP-BJP Government’s anti-people, anti-youth and anti-worker policies from Lakhanpur which will culminate at Leh on November 3.
With an objective to launch mass movement against the recently adopted recruitment policy of the BJP-PDP Govt and supporting unsettled issues of thousands of daily wagers, NYCs and other educated unemployed youth; the PYC started the mass contact and awareness programme named “Yuva Akrosh Yatra” from Lakhanpur ( J&K-Punjab border) this morning. After covering all the 22 districts, the rally shall reached at Leh on November 12.
During this yatra, PYC will organize on-foot marches at the district head quarters and towns and will organize protest demonstration against the recently adopted requirement policy.
The Yatra was flagged off by former Minister and senior Congress leader Dr Manohor Lal Sharma, Subash Gupta ( Ex-MLC) and DCC president Kathua in presence of Dr Uma Shanker Pandey, National secretary IYC & Incharge J&K Youth Congress; Pranav Shagotra president J&K PYC; Satish Sharma, Paramjit Singh, Rajvir Singh PYC general secretaries and Vinay Sharma LYC president.
A large number of youth activists participated in the Yatra and marched from Lakhanpur to Kathua town. After a strong protest demonstration in Kathua, the Yatra moved to district Samba in cars/ jeeps and on motor- cycles.
The Yatra was received and addressed by Manjeet Singh former Minister in Vijaypur. It was also accorded rousing welcome at Chhanni and Samba, where a large number of youth joined the yatra. Tomorrow Yatra will proceed to Jammu.
Prominent PYC leaders who were accompanying included Balbir Singh, Rajan Sharma, Chetan Wanchoo, Sandeep Singh, Vinay Sharma, Rajiv Gupta, Pankaj Sharma, Ricky Dalhotra, Ashwini Sharma, Paramjeet Singh, Romy Khajuria, Kewal Krishan, Akash, Chander Sheikher, Vinod Kumar, Varun Sharma, Sandeep Sharma, Sanjeev Mathur, Vishu Andotra, Sidhant Singh and Dalvir Singh Sethi.
Addressing the gathering IYC secretary Dr Pandey exhorted upon the youth of J&K to join this mass movement at a large scale to get rid of the anti- youth policies of the Government. He assured the youth that PYC will not allow the PDP-BJP to play with the careers of the lakhs of educated unemployed youth of the State.
PYC chief, Pranav Shagotra said that as the Govt did not pay any heed to their representations, the PYC resolved to launch this statewide mass movement. He demanded scrapping up of this controversial recruitment policy. Mr Shagotra also appealed the youth to join this movement.
