JAMMU, Feb 22: Activists of Youth Congress headed by Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) president Pranav Shagotra today held massive demonstration in front of the building of Punjab National Bank (PNB) as mark of protest against Rs 21306 crore scam in the bank.
Youth Congress activists demanded reply from BJP leadership on this biggest ever bank and alleged that top BJP leadership is involved in the scandal. They also demanded that lists of defaulters of J&K Bank should also be made public.

Hundreds of Youth Congress activists holding banners, pla cards in their hands and amidst raising slogans like Chota Modi Vapis Lao, assembled in front of Press Club Jammu and started march towards PNB branch near Secretariat. The heavy contingent of police force intercepted the protesters and over five dozen of them courted arrest. Later, they were shifted to District Police Lines, in police buses.
Addressing party activists, secretary IYC Sheeshpal Singh attacked BJP led NDA Government over the multi-crore PNB scam involving Nirav Modi and questioned the silence BJP leaders on this issue and demanded an explanation of the fraud from the NDA Government at the Centre. He stated that the scam of such intensity could not have taken place without the highest level protection by the authorities. He said that first Lalit Modi, then Vijay Mallya and now Nirav Modi.
Reiterating questions repeatedly being raised by Congress president Rahul Gandhi, PYC president Pranav Shagotra asked BJP Government to explain “Why it happened and what steps were being taken to ensure the banking system is safe in the country. The Prime Minister through his actions, has ruined the country and demonetized the economy. All the looted money has been taken out from the people’s pocket and now PM Modi’s friends and close companions are robbing the money from the banking sector”.
PYC president said that similar scams are also going on J&K Bank but authorities are trying their best to hide such scandal. He said NPA of J&K Bank is increasing with every passing year but those managing this bank have failed to take any step to make recovery from the defaulters. Moreover, most of the defaulters are the politicians.
Prominent among those accompanied included PYC vice president- Satish Sharma, Rajveer Singh, Varinder Singh Chib, Paramjeet Pamma, Pankaj Basotra, Balbir, Singh, Vinay Sharma, Sachin Gupta and Chranjeet Singh.
