JAMMU, Sept 12: A deputation of Provincial Village Guards’ Union (PVGU) led by Abdul Majid Khan, president, All J&K Low Paid Employees’ Federation, Thakar Das, president, PVGU and Bindraban, president, Numberdars’ Union today met Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Jammu, Arun Manhas and presented a memorandum of demands.
The demands contained in the memorandum were regularization of village Guards as Class IV employees with pay, perks and other allied benefits. The deputation demanded that till they are regularized their remuneration be raised to at least at par with minimum daily wage in vogue in the State i.e. Rs 150 per day or Rs 4500 per month, as they are assigned multifarious types of duties and functions in addition to their own duties.
The deputation also demanded adequate raise in honorarium of Numberdars to enable them to sustain their dignity, honour and status in the area. The deputation members said that low paid workers like Village Guards and Numberdars are facing acute economical hardships due to sky rocketing prices of all essential commodities and they need immediate relief by getting fulfilled their demands.
