Purmandal Fair

Sir,
This has a reference to news item titled “Arrangements finalized for Chari Yatra to Purmandal Shrines” published in DE of 12th March 2020. In this context while, congratulating Mr Charak for his 26th Annual Charri Mubarik Yatra, I would like to make the readers understand that presently when the country is under the grave threat of Novel Corona Virus (nCoV) the provision for providing cool, calm, clean and pollution free environ at these places is the need of the hour. Cremation of dead bodies near Shiva Temple Complex at Purmandal is another possible hotspot in spreading of this global pandemic.
Pertinent to mention here, the “Annual Chet Choudish Fair”at Purmandal is the largest fair of the year which continues for three days i.e. 23rd to 24th of March. The said fair is further followed by Navratras as well as Baisakhi falling on 13th April. Precisely speaking the days from 23rd of March to 13th of April are the days of festivity at Purmandal attracting abnormal footfall. For smooth conduct of the festive season I would like to request the authorities concerned to make suitable arrangements withregards to the following:
Maintenance of cleanliness with healthy sanitoary conditions inside and outside the temple and particularly in the river bed need be ensured on top priority besides imposition of complete ban on cremations below Shiva Temple at Purmandal during the days of festivity and even thereafter.
Ensure immediate blacktopping of the Purmandal Bus stand as the same is giving a very shabby look to the visiting tourists.
Motorable bridge at Mandal (Katwalta) connecting two important religious locations and foot bridge at Purmandal are also giving a very shabby look. Painting of these bridges before start of festive season preferably in saffron clour is requested.
Advertisement and publicity is the basic requirement for the development of a tourist destination as such the event is requested to be given wide publicity in the print/electronic media besides exhibition of large size hoardings at Purmandal Morh (Kaluchak) and Utterbehni Morh Vijaypur.
Flower vendors, pandits and beggars etc. need be seated in the Devika River Bed in a manner found convenient to the devotees taking baths as well as performing other rituals so that no space is left for cremations beneath shiva temple..
Authorities like PWD, PHE, PDD as well as RTO etc. need be directed to ensure free flow of traffic on the roads linking the shrine as well as uninterrupted electricity and water supply during the days of festivity.
