REASI, Oct 13 : Sudesh Puri, president Municipal Committee Reasi today succeeded in retaining his chair as the ‘no confidence motion’ moved against him was dropped after 6 members voted in his favour .
The floor test was held today at the Municipal Committee Office Reasi in which 12 Councilors participated and out of 12 , 6 voted against him and 6 voted in his favour . There are 13 councillors in Municipal Committee Reasi but due to death of one councilor, 12 councilors participated in the voting process.
It is pertinent to mention here that on October 8, several Councilors of Municipal Committee Reasi moved ‘no-confidence motion’ against the Municipal President before Deputy Commissioner Reasi as the letter they submitted to DC said that the president does not have majority . As per the information , one independent councillor voted in his favour, resulting into the draw of votes. The presiding officer said that the report will be send to higher authorities and whatever rule says, the committee will be intimated accordingly. Till then , he will continue as President of the Municipal Committee.
