JAMMU, Jan 31: J&K Punjabi Sahit Sangam organised one day Punjabi writers’ conference at Digiana Ashram, here today.
Prof Hardev Singh was the chief guest, Dr Pritam Singh was the special guest while S. Amar Singh Kuka, a Punjabi Ghazal writer presided over the function.
Welcoming the guests Rajpaul Singh Mastana said that Punjabi Sahit Sangam was registered during 1999 and has rendered its services in promoting Punjabi language and enriched the literary treasure of the language. He said that the objectives of the organization are being fulfilled by organizing literary and cultural events like literary meetings, books publications and book release functions etc. Remembering various Punjabi writers of the State, he paid rich tributes to Sapan Mala, OP Sharma Saarthi, Vijay Suman Sosan, Tilak Raj Tilak, Avtar Singh Chandan, Raghubir Singh Mugadh, Kripal Singh Kasali, Ujagar Singh Mehak and Joginder Singh Mastana who had contributed in the field of Punjabi literature in their own way.
Two short stories were presented by Ichhupal Singh (Dubbi Agg) and Hardeep Singh Deep (Miyaan Da Khooh). Later a Kavi Durbar was held where S. Harjit Singh Nagra, Hardeep Singh Deep, Ramesh Rahi, Rajpaul Singh Mastana, Suraj Rattan, Balwinder Singh and Amar Kuka presented their creations of Punjabi poetry reflecting on various issues.
Prof Hardev Singh appreciated the efforts of Punjabi Sahit Sangam in promoting and preserving the treasure of Punjabi literature in the State. He said that the organization has always come forward to present various literary activities.
Amar Singh Kuka extended tributes to the departed literary personalities. He said that the contributors in any field should be remembered to acquaint the old generations to the coming generations as a source of motivation for them.
Prominent among others who were present included Hardeep Singh Deep, Suraj Rattan, Balwinder Singh, Harjit Singh Nagra, Ramesh Rahi and Ichhupal Singh.
