Punjabi Lekhak Sabha organizes literary meet

JAMMU, Dec 11: Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (PLS), Jammu conducted its fortnightly literary meet in which S Surinder Singh Seerat was the chief guest and S Kanwal Kashmiri, a well known Punjabi writer of the State presided over.
Jang S Verman, Secretary, PLS, a well known artist and columnist on art and culture was present on this occasion. Short stories and articles were presented and poetry recited by the well known Punjabi writers attending the meeting.
Those who presented their literary creations included Dr Monojit, Amar Singh Kuka, M S Kamra, Rahi Simbalpuria, Harbhajan Singh ‘Upashak’, Ichhupal Singh, Gurcharan Singh Star, Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, Bishan Das ‘Khak’, S Pritam Singh ‘Anjan’, Ajit Singh ‘Mastana’, Balwinder Singh, Hardeep Singh Deep, Dr Baljeet Raina, Dr Karan Singh, Surinder Singh Seerat and Kanwal Kashmiri. These creations included lyrics, Ghazals, articles on various literary themes and short stories.
An interaction was held after reading the creations . the participants exchanged their vies during this session.
Earlier welcoming the participants, Dr Baljeet Singh Raina, PLS general secretary, said that the meeting was designed to honour S Surinder Singh Seerat, a well known Punjabi writer from Kashmir and now settled in Chicago. He said that this occasion gave writers to exchange their views with Seerat and other Punjabi writers hailing from Kashmir and knew the present scenario of Punjabi literature in their respective regions.
Speaking on this occasion Surinder Singh Seerat appreciated the working of PLS and appreciated for promoting Punjabi language by making efforts for the writers to publish and release their books of literary creations. He recalled experiences of his literary journey in India and Chicago.
In his presidential note S Kanwal Kashmiri said that the Sabha has contributed sufficiently to promote the Punjabi literary activities yet there is enough work to do. He advised the writers who have created a number of literary works, to publish their books for documenting those works.
