Punjab resident arrested with poppy straw

JAMMU, Sept 1: Nowabad Police arrested Punjab resident along with six kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Nowabad led by SHO Inspector Rajesh Khajuria under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Jammu Swati Sharma laid a naka near Dogra Chowk and intercepted a passenger auto bearing registration number JK02BR-2910.
During checking, police team recovered 6 kilograms of poppy straw from the passenger travelling in the auto and arrested him on the spot.
The arrested person was identified as Gagandeep Singh, son of Sukhpal Singh of Lamba Pind, Ludhiana, Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 133/2021 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Statio Nowabad and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
