JAMMU, Aug 14: United Sikh Council (J&K) has alleged that Punjab Police was harassing the Sikh youth in Jammu areas.
In a joint press conference here today, convener  of the United Sikh Council (USC) Kuldeep Singh, K S Bhatti and Amarjit Singh alleged that Punjab Police was harassing the Sikh youth for the past some time and dragging in false cases. They alleged that various Punjab Police teams are conducting raids at various Sikh localities like Bhour Camp, Simbal Camp, Digiana and other areas dominated by Sikhs in Jammu region and harassing Sikh youth.
Unfortunately, J&K police has been maintaining silence over the matter. Many innocent youths are being dragged in false cases. During raids the innocent people have also been put to harassment. The Punjab Police cops enter houses in civil dress during odd hours, which amounts to human rights violation. Several youth of the area have been picked up and detained by Punjab Police.
The Council members urged upon the State authorities to intervene  and come to the rescue of  innocent youth from Jammu arrested and detained by Punjab Police authorities.
