Pune Woman Detained in NEET Paper Leak Probe; CBI Action Intensifies

PUNE, May 13 : The investigation into the nationwide NEET paper leak case has intensified, with authorities now tracing links from Nashik to Pune.

After two suspects were detained in Nashik on Tuesday, Pune Police on Wednesday took a woman into custody from the Bibwewadi area for her alleged role in the racket.

The detained woman has been identified as 46-year-old Manisha Waghmare, who reportedly runs a beauty parlour in Pune. According to police sources, she is suspected of acting as a middleperson who connected students to the main accused involved in the scam.

Investigators suspect that Waghmare was assisting Dhananjay Lokhande, who was earlier arrested from Ahilyanagar in connection with the NEET paper leak case. Preliminary findings suggest that she helped students establish contact with Lokhande for alleged illegal arrangements related to the examination.

During the operation, Pune Police’s Crime Branch seized a mobile phone and a laptop from Waghmare. Officials have also reportedly recovered WhatsApp call records and messages exchanged between Waghmare and Lokhande, which are expected to play a crucial role in the ongoing investigation.

Sources said that after preliminary questioning by Pune Police, Manisha Waghmare is likely to be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by Wednesday evening for further interrogation.

The NEET paper leak case has triggered nationwide outrage, with multiple agencies investigating an alleged network involved in leaking examination papers and facilitating unfair means for candidates across different states. (UNI)
