Increasing traffic congestion in Rajouri

RAJOURI, Nov 18: The residents of Rajouri and commuters traveling through the area are facing severe traffic congestion due to the high volume of vehicles passing through the Rajouri city.
Vehicles coming from Thannamandi, Darhal, Poonch/Surankote via Dera Gali and the Mughal Road are currently forced to pass through the City, causing frequent traffic jams and inconvenience to both residents and travellers.
To alleviate this growing issue, the public has been demanding the construction of a bypass road connecting Darhali Morh (Fatehpur) to Salani Bridge or Workshop bridge to connect the Jammu-Poonch Highway. This bypass road would provide an alternative route, avoiding the congested areas of the city by ensuring smoother vehicular movement.
The proposed bypass is seen as a crucial solution to the region’s traffic woes by diverting vehicles away from the crowded city streets; the bypass road would significantly reduce congestion, improve travel time, and enhance the overall commuting experience.
Residents also believe that this initiative would improve pedestrian safety, as the reduced traffic within the city would minimize the risk of accidents and enhance the quality of life for those living in the area.
Moreover, the bypass road is expected to boost regional connectivity by providing a more direct and efficient route for vehicles traveling between Kashmir through Mughal Road, Poonch, Thannamandi, and Darhal. Such infrastructure development would also encourage economic growth by supporting trade, transportation, and tourism in the region.
The people of Rajouri urged the Central Government, District Administration, GREF (BRO), Public Works Department (PWD) Minister, and other relevant authorities to prioritize this vital project. Constructing a bypass road from Darhali Morh (Fatehpur) to Salani Bridge or Work shop bridge to connect the Jammu-Poonch Highway to avoid traffic congestion in Rajouri Municipal Council area become an urgent need to address the increasing challenges posed by the region’s growing traffic demands.
