SAMBA, Mar 10: In order to spread awareness among the officers/officials/trainees, SSP Ashok Sharma, Principal, Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) Vijaypur, arranged a lecture on the Right to Information Act in the premises of the institution.
Ajay Singh Sahi, Advocate, J&K High Court, was the guest speaker. In his address, Sahi quoted various rules which are mostly used while seeking information under RTI Act. While throwing light on this important Act, Sahi said that RTI Act was introduced in the State in the year 2009 and its rules were framed in the year 2012 and for the last six years people are seeking their required information/papers from Government offices under this Act in a stipulated period of time.
“With the contemplated period of time there needs some improvement in the Act which the Government may consider to ensure its proper use”, he said. Sahi also replied to various queries raised by the officers and officials concerning Right to Information Act.
He further said that PIOs should refrain from passing information to the RTI activists which are likely to endanger Security of State/ Nation/ Individual. He also enumerated the role of PIO, First Appellate Authority and Commission. He further told that in order to have accountability of every complaint, every department needs to be linked with the Commission electronically for their disposal in time.
Lastly, Rakesh Sambyal, Deputy SP, Indoor, presented vote of thanks while Sahi was presented memento by Principal as well as Vice Principal of PTTI, Vijaypur.
Earlier, Ashok Sharma, Principal PTTI Vijaypur presented welcome address and threw light on the topic of the lecture. He said that the lecture on this important topic has been chosen with a view that officers/officials/trainees are made aware of this important Act and its proper usage.
Among others, SSP Savita Parihar, Vice Principal, PTTI Vijaypur, Mukesh Kumar, Deputy SP (Administration), Karanjit Singh, Deputy SP (Outdoor), PP Singh, Deputy SP (PIO/Legal Affairs), Ajay Punjabi, Deputy SP (Tech), Ramesh Kataria, Deputy SP (S), Raman Kumar, Deputy SP(M), Inspector Ashok Singh Jasrotia, Inspectors Hemanshu Sunil Mahajan, Inspector Kushwant Singh, Inspector Manoj Bali, Inspector Charanjit Singh and Inspector Yashpal Singh were present on the occasion.
