‘Spare poor, punish big fish’

JAMMU, Feb 13: A joint meeting was held by JK People’s Revolutionary Society (PRS) and JK Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Society (PSCWS) in which the decision of Government regarding retrieving of State and Kascharai land from the land grabbers and also demolishing of the structures constructed on State land was highly acclaimed.
The meeting said in the past all political parties who were in power time to time have allowed encroachments of State land even Forest land, small drains, foot paths and roads were encroached by the influential persons through musclemen. The Governments of time were aware of all this but allowed it to take place clandestinely.
However, the LG has taken right step which one and all should appreciate but contrary to directives of Lt Governor the officers executing the orders are harassing the poor people with the result they are protesting on roads and the rich persons, politicians and musclemen who have grabbed the State land are watching and enjoying .
The meeting demanded that Government should come clear on this issue and frame a road map for the same by providing justice to poor who are protesting on roads. Moreover instead of dismantling of any structure on State land the Government should take same in its custody and where ever the structure’s are creating hurdles in foot paths, roads, drains and other essential requirements such structures should be dismantled.
Besides, the poor persons who have constructed their houses on five to 15 marls of land be either spared or compensated.
The officers and politicians involved and responsible for land grabbing should be booked under law and they should be prosecuted for their negligence.
The meeting was Chaired by JK People’s Revolutionary Society & Pensioners and Senior citizens Welfare Society chairman Mir Ghulam Rasool Botvani and it was attended by Sheikh Gh Mohiudin Shilvati, Ghulam Nabi Prangi , Ghulam Mohd Rina, D N Sadhu , Baldev Raj Sharma , P N Rina, Mohd Sultan Mir and others.
