JAMMU, May 6: A meeting of executive members of Other Backward Classes (OBC) was held at Shri Vishavkarma Sabha Mandir, Gurha Morh, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu under the chairmanship of Rakesh Chalotra, President Shri Vishavkarma Sabha to discuss the issues of reservation to OBC category in JK UT.
The meet expressed great concern that reservation has not been provided to OBCs in J&K even after 29 years of its implementation in all over the country and two and half years from abrogation of Article 370 when all Central Laws have been implemented in JK UT at par with other States and UTs without any discrimination.
All members of the Vishavkarma Sabha alleged that J&K Govt was very reluctant in implementing OBC reservation in JK UT even after abrogation of Article 370 and conversion of State to UT.
Sub Maj (Retd) Madan Lal Dubgotra, Chairman West Pakistani Hindu Refugee Front, JK (WPHRF), who is also founder of All J&K OBC Manch, was the chief guest on this occasion. He appealed to the Union Govt and to the Lt Governor to repeal RBA reservation immediately and provide 27 percent reservation to the OBCs in J&K at par with other States and UTs in accordance with the Constitutional provisions.
“OBCs in J&K UT contribute around 40 percent population. Denying reservation to the OBC category by JK UT Govt is great injustice, discrimination and a step motherly treatment which has caused an irreparable loss to the aspirant youths from OBC category, whereas undue favour is being done to the people of selected areas and provided reservation under RBA category out of OBC quota who are otherwise not entitled to reservation in accordance with Mandal Commission Recommendations and the provisions contained in Constitution of India as well as the guidelines laid down by the Union of India and NCBC Act 1993 as reproduced in Article 338B of the Constitution,” he explained.
Chairman WPHRF also urged upon the Lt Governor to withheld all such controversial advertisement Notifications relating JK Service Selection Board (JKSSB) entrance examinations and the Public Sector Employment vacancies and re-advertise same after implementation of reservation to OBCs in J&K.
Shashi Verma, President Pradesh Vishavkarma Sabha, Vijay Kumar, Gen Secy, Jagish Raj Kargotra, Rattan Lal Chargotra and others attended the meeting.
