Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 1: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma (Ex-MLC) has said that the Centre and some State Governments failed to fulfill the primary duty and the promise to  provide adequate quantity of ration to the  migrant labourers from J&K in different parts, while those from other states suffered the same situation here in J&K,  which is most  unfortunate and painful.
Regretting that the administration at several places has been unable to provide adequate quantity of ration to all the migrant labourers and poor, despite lot of funds available at their disposal, which most unfortunate and amounts to denial right to life with dignity to labour class, who are builders of India. He said the migrant labourers in different areas from various parts of the country are suffering here,  while those from J&K,  in other States,  are also equally suffering. The promise of adequate ration to all poor has not been fulfilled by the Centre and respective states including J&K UT.
He said that migrant labourers were provided limited quantity of ration only once,  during the period and they are in need of more ration but administration did not care for them, despite available funds with the respective districts administration. He sought detailed statements about the expenditure on various heads during the period as there  should be proper accountability at all levels.
He also raised the issue of poor condition of several quarantine centres and lack of adequate facilities at many centers. He said the party would keep a watch on the facilities being offered and the working of the  administration and would make them accountable.
Sharma sought aggressive testing of all those stranded people being brought back and instead of quarantine centres, they should be allowed to go home. All stranded people should be provided free transportation especially the labour class and other such poor people. He said it could only be the  best tributes to those who sacrificed for the rights of  the labour class.
