JAMMU, Oct 25: Demanding safe shelters for the border migrants in Hiranagar, Samba, Ramgarh, R S Pura and Akhnoor sectors, the NPP Legislator from Samba Yashpaul Kundal today alleged that there was no arrangement for the hapless victims of Pakistani firing.
Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Kundal expressed serious concern over the inaction on the part of State administration and alleged that victims are not being taken care by the Government. He pointed out that during his extensive visit to various affected villages in Samba and parts of Kathua and Ramgarh, many villagers complained against the Administration. There was terror among the border villagers and they were spending sleepless nights.
The NPP MLA further pointed out that in the CMP signed between the Congress and PDP in 2002 in which Prof Bhim Singh and CPI (M) leader M Y Tarigami were also signatories at New Delhi, it was agreed upon to provide 5 marla plots to the border migrants in the safer zones in the region but unfortunately, the decision was never implemented. He demanded that the decision taken there in the CMP meet should be implemented. He said the affected border migrants really need special attention and they should be rehabilitated at the safer zones.
Mr Kundal said that the Government should identify some places in safe areas and rehabilitate the affected border people there to protect them from the Pakistani firing. They are also unable to go to their fields and harvest paddy crop. The Government and security agencies must help them to collect their ripe crop because farming was their bread and butter. Sarpanch Pawan Sharma, NPP leaders Subash Singh Charak and Jagdev Singh also accompanied.
