Provide infrastructural facilities at Jagti Hospital: AIMCCC

JAMMU, Apr 25: In a meeting of All India Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) was held at Jagti township today to discuss the situation created due to present COVID Pandemic. The meeting was held under the chairmanship AIMCCC ,president, Desh Rattan Pandita. It alleged that the administration has not taken pre-emptive measures to fight the pandemic as a result of that the people were facing the worst health hazards.
The meeting said JK UT is also in the serious grip of pandemic and people are helpless. It said the administration is going to establish a COVID Control Centre at Jagti township. Establishing of COVID control centre is a good step in the interest of people but it should always be in open area far from residential colonies. Jagti township is a densely populated colony and by establishing of COVID control centre it will create high risk for camp dwellers as there are 24 families accommodated in a single building with 4200 families in the colony. AIMCCC appealed the administration to see some alternate so that the Jagti residents are saved. Moreover, the Hospital at Jagti colony is short of doctors. Ultrasound and X ray sections are without doctors. Health Department Jammu is requested to immediately send concerned doctors so that the patients do not suffer.
In the meeting Desh Rattan Pandita asked , why the health infrastructure has collapsed? He said had the successive Governments paid attention towards building health infrastructure in the country the situation could have not deteriorated to such an extent.
He demanded that the vaccination drive be intensified in migrant camps as well and the oxygen cylinders and machines be kept available in the Jagti as well as in other camp health centres to be used in emergencies. He urged the Government to ensure the posting of staff in Jagti hospital as well as other hospitals.
