JAMMU, July 22: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) general secretary, Dhaman Bhasin today urged upon the State Government to provide adequate relief to those who have suffered losses in the recent floods and heavy down pours in different areas of Jammu region.
Addressing meeting senior party leaders which was held to finalize programme for foundation day function on July 28, Mr Bhasin regretted that recent rains and floods have caused huge damage in Jammu city and adjoining localities. He pointed out that due to defunct drainage system rains water entered into many localities, resulting in huge loss.
While demanding a comprehensive survey to assess total losses in floods, Mr Bhasin emphasized on the authorities to streamline sewerage system in the city and outskirts.
“Entering of over-flowing water from drains into houses of people has become a routine affair in Jammu city so there is a need to formulate a comprhesnive and lasting policy to solve this problems once for all”, he said.
Mr Daman Bhasin further expressed his concern over deplorable conditions of roads in the city. He said that most of the roads in the city were dilapidated and recent rains have further compounded woes of the people.
