JAMMU, Mar 24: An emergency meeting of All J&K Electric Department Linemen and Workers Union (EDLWU) was held under the chairmanship of Vijay Gupta, chairman of the union, today.
The main objective of the meeting was about the deaths of linemen during the process of workings on electric poles or otherwise during their duties. The meeting was addressed by Vijay Gupta, chairman, who while addressing the meeting said that late Fazil Din son of Bashir Ahmed, lineman (need basis) was electrocuted while carrying the works on high tension conductor line at Malik Market, Narwal Mandi, Jammu.
The speakers said that the family has lost the bread earner and alleged that it was due to negligence of the officers concerned. They have appealed the PDD Minister for ex-gratia relief of Rs 5.00 lakh be given to the next heirs of the decreased, besides employment to one the family members.
Those who attended the meeting were Suresh Antal, Tara Chand, Surinder Kumar, Paras Ram, Krishan Lal, Ravinder Sharma, Sham Din, Janak Raj, Aishaq Hussain, Tarseem Lal, Ram Lal, Manga Ram and others.
