JAMMU, Feb 13: Kisan Sabha (Jammu), has urged upon the UT Administration to provide compensation to the farmers whose crops were damaged due to hailstorm on October 23, 2021 in the region.
Talking to media persons Hari Chand Jalmeria-president, who was accompanied by Dr GS Charak (vice president), Udey Chand, Sayed Rafiq Shah (Ex-MLC), Balwant Singh (gen secy) and others said that Government continued exploitation of farming community. The promises made with them are often broken and they are given Lolly Pop by the respective Governments.
He said farmers are considered as backbone of any country and also termed as ‘Ann Data’ but this is mere a ‘word’ used for their exploitation. No adequate welfare measures are taken for them. He said over 75 % population in J&K is from farmers class.
He demanded compensation for the damaged crops in Jammu and Kashmir, de-silting of Ranbir Canal and all other canals in the region, procurement facilities to the farmers at village level, Government should ensure MSP to farmers, remove monkey menace as their crops are being damaged by increasing population of monkeys everywhere, provision of old age pension to farmers, opening of dairies in all the villages/ blocks and creation of milk ATMs, provide job quota to the children of farmers in Departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry etc.
Kisan Sabha leaders urged upon the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to provide adequate compensation to the farmners for their damaged crops due to hailstorm in Oct 2021 as promised by the Government.
