JAMMU, Sept 6: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a protest against steep hike in prices of petrol, diesel and LPG.
Scores of activists led by Sunil Dimple, JWAM president, assembled at New Plot on Janipur-High Court Road and burnt the effigies of the Union Government and Petroleum Ministry.
Addressing the protesters, Sunil Dimple said petrol price is at Rs 80 per litre at present and Modi Government is continuously increasing the prices of petrol and diesel which has badly broken the back bone of the people of the country.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has forgotten his election promise to reduce the petrol, diesel and LPG prices. He demanded PM to bring petrol, diesel and LPG under GST.
Dimple also demanded Governor SP Malik to exempt sale tax and VAT on the sale of petrol, diesel, kerosene oil, LPG in the State till all these are brought under GST.
