KATHUA, Apr 5: Some people from Ward No. 10 held protest demonstration against local police and blocked Kathua– Pathankote road for about an hour.
The trouble started some Police Constables came in a Gypsy and barged into the house of a youth Jhonson alias Rocky in Parli Band area falling under Ward No. 10 and started search at around 1.30 pm. The police party was not accompanied by any police officer like SI or even ASI. There was engagement function in progress at the house and many relatives had gathered there. After search nothing could be recovered from the house.
Then police cops asked the youth (Rocky) to accompany them to Police Station. But the family members objected to it and said that there was function in the house and they should not disturb them. They tried to drag the youth telling that he has been wanted by PSI in some case. The relatives and family members had virtual clash with the cops and sensing trouble the Police Gypsy driver escaped. Later, the cops surrounded by relatives of the youth and facing their wrath also fled the scene.
Later, the relatives of the Rocky and locals of the area came out on the road and started protest demonstration. The women alleged that cops misbehaved with them. The road remained blocked for about an hour. Later, a senior police official moved to the spot and assured to hold an inquiry into the matter. It was found that there was no fresh FIR against the Rocky at the Police Station.
