KISHTWAR, July 26: Protest broke out here today over the alleged kidnapping and rape of a minor girl while as police arrested two accused and launched hunt for another.
A large number of people blocked the Kishtwar-Batote National Highway at Hasti and disrupted the vehicular traffic for several hours. They were demanding strong action against the accused, who had kidnapped the girl, a resident of Kontwara, on July 24.
However, the protest demonstration came to an end after Tehsildar Kishtwar, Inderjit Singh and police officers reached the spot and assured the protesters of strict action against the culprits.
Meanwhile, police arrested two accused namely Sanjay Kumar, son of Mangat Ram and Ranjit Kumar, son of Duni Chand and recovered the kidnapped girl while as hunt was launched to nab the third accused namely Hem Raj, son of Nek Ram.
The girl was restored to her family members after medical examination.
