RAJOURI, Apr 4: The people held strong protest demonstration at Samote, Daraj and Mandar Galla in Kotranka against the State authorities for the reservation of some Panchayats in the area where population of the ST is less as compared to other categories.
The people from these Panchayats came out on Rajouri-Kotranka-Budhal Road and held protest demonstration against the State Government. They said while they had no problem with the reservation of seats for the women candidates but due to political pressure the concerned officers projected wrong information and gave wrong data showing ST population higher than the other categories in some Panchayats.
They alleged that some tehsildar and the Naib tehsildars under the influence of local political people prepared wrong lists and forwarded to the higher authorities. They said that other categories having more population would face great injustice with the preparation of forged lists by the Revenue authorities. They demanded inquiry into the matter.
With these protests, the road at these three places remained blocked for several hours and the passengers remained trapped there. Later, Tehsildar and SHO moved to these areas and said that their concern will be communicated to the higher authorities. Then the road was opened.
