RAJOURI, Apr 14: The villagers from Azmatabad in tehsil Thannamandi held protest against the damage caused to a graveyard during construction of a link road.
Irate residents came out on Thannamandi-Rajouri road last evening and started protest. The village Sarpanch Fazal Hussain was leading the protest. The villagers alleged that a link road under PMGSY was being constructed and the cutting work was executed and then the work was abandoned. No retaining walls were raised to protect the graveyards. During recent rains, there was land slides and several graveyards were broken and the skeletons of the few came out.
Upon this, the locals of the area got agitated and started protest demanding action against the agency. They blocked road. Later, SDM and Tehsildar Thannamandi reached the spot and they assured people to take action in this regard. The people then lifted dharna from the road.
