RAJOURI, May 18: The peaceful protest launched by the non-gazetted employees of Government Medical College (GMC) and Associated Hospital Rajouri, entered the 8th consecutive day today.
The protest was led by president of the GMC Employees Union Rajouri, Nasir Khan, along with District vice president Masood Malik and other members including Ishtaq Bhat, Waseem Akram and Nadeem Ahmed Mir.
The GMC and Associated Hospital employees (NG) have continued their peaceful protest/strike for the past seven days, demanding the formulation and finalization of Recruitment Rules, which have remained pending since 2019.
On Monday, the protest entered its 8th consecutive day. The movement has garnered widespread support from the MLA Rajouri constituency Iftikhar Ahmed, the Principal GMC Rajouri, the Medical Faculty Forum GMC Rajouri, and officials from the Health Department, NHM, and AYUSH.
MLA Rajouri through telephonic communication, along with the Principal GMC Rajouri, assured the employees that the matter has been taken up with the concerned department. They further committed that the long-pending demand will be resolved shortly. In a strong show of solidarity, the MLA also pledged that if the demands are not fulfilled within the stipulated time frame, he will personally join the protest.
This collective action underscores the urgency of addressing the employees’ genuine concerns and highlights the importance of finalizing recruitment rules to ensure fairness, transparency, and stability in the institution’s workforce.
